Fixed Retention vs. The Challenge of Relapse

Bonded Fixed Lingual Retention began in earnest among Orthodontists in the late 1970's. Dr. Björn U. Zachrisson first described his success with lingual retention in his 1977 AJODO article†.

Since then, materials, techniques, and adhesives have been developed and refined with improved results. Flowable adhesives, fiber reinforced composites and adhesion boosters have all expanded treatment choices and success rates for lingual retainers.

The advantages to doctors and patients of lingual retention are many and include: Aesthetic and invisible appliance, Effective retention applied 24/7 (patient compliance), Cannot be misplaced or inadvertently destroyed, No interference with normal activities like sports or musical instruments.

We are the industry leader in developing Orthodontic wires and related accessories for various clinical applications. We are proud to present our complete armamentarium for successful clinical application of bonded lingual retainers.
